So as with any leadership role you have a remit and goals to be achieved whether that’s shareholders that have to be answered to or in this case residential and other care services that need to be delivered with positive identifiable outcomes – you know what is expected of you and your teams and have strategies and frameworks to achieve this.
However outside agencies, whether they be your head office and it’s various departments, regulatory and quality assurance bodies, trainers and consultants all may have an awareness but not necessarily the insight into how their roles and demands impact on your ability to carry out your tasks in a timely and satisfactory manner.
All that is accomplished is a manager fighting fires, juggling (maybe dropping) balls who is trying to answer to and keep happy those whose demands show they feel their needs/requests have priority over the real needs of those who are in receipt of services.
